About Tom:

Prior to joining ViaWealth Tom served as Senior Managing Director, Co-Head of Investments at Wells Fargo Private Bank and Senior Investment Strategist at Oxford Financial Group. Both roles involved managing the wealth investment platform and creating the best investment solutions for clients. Before entering the wealth management field he spent several years in institutional investing at Nuveen as the lead portfolio manager of their large capitalization growth fund and leader of the mid-cap and large-cap growth team, both of which outperformed benchmarks for several years. Tom started his career with 19 years at Securian Financial. He worked his way to the lead portfolio manager position for their largest investment strategies, large capitalization growth and the asset allocation fund where he was responsible for over $2 billion of client assets.

Tom is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) with an MBA in Finance from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and an undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College.

Tom can utilize his investment knowledge from intuitional investment management to create effective investment portfolios for a variety of clients. Across various roles his investment acumen and long-term perspective has brought successful results.

Tom’s competitive character spans many venues. He earned NCAA All-American honors in swimming at St. Olaf college, played trumpet in the Minnesota Youth Symphony, and bred, raised, and trained one of the most successful barrel racing horses ever to come out the upper Midwest, a horse called Dial a Little Fame.

Tom and his wife Lynn live in Stillwater, Minnesota. They enjoy traveling and looking for interesting new hiking venues. He contributes time to the YMCA of the North as a member of their investment committee. Tom has been an elite level triathlete and currently is a competitive mountain biker and road bike racer with several podium finishes in recent years. He also enjoys coaching the local high school mountain bike team, spending time with his three adult sons and weekends at their lake cabin in Wisconsin.
